This year OnePlus tried something new. If we look at the history of OnePlus it launches 2 models every year. One standard variant and one upgraded variant for the same phone upgrading some minorities that their standard phone did not have. But this year OnePlus changed its strategy and announced its flagship OnePlus 7 pro. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei announced their new flagship OnePlus 7 pro and some other products as well.
After some retail updates, he moved to product announcements. According to them it’s their biggest ever launch event.
OnePlus launched their brand new Bullets wireless 2 headphones which supports 10 mm dynamic driver for bass and has AptX HD support and warp charge support as well. According to the company, it gives a tremendous battery life 4 hours with continuous music playback after a full charge.
And let’s come to the main attraction of the launch event. The biggest launch from OnePlus this year OnePlus 7 pro comes in three variants ranging from $669 to $749.
If you are familiar with the OnePlus, you might know it used to deliver phones with high specs in a budget segment and used to call itself a flagship killer but slowly the company is pushing itself into flagship market with a premium price tag.
Let’s come to the specifications of this device.

The OnePlus 7 pro is a large phone with 6.7 inches OLED screen with QHD+ display having a fair 19:5:9 aspect ratio. Still, a big screen is nothing special anymore. What really matters at this tier of phones is the quality of screen. OnePlus nailed it on this point also. Screen hits all the basics: It’s high resolution, gets really bright for outdoors too, has color accuracy. Its screen is slightly curved at the edges like some previous galaxy phones had so that some users may prefer it and users like me won’t prefer it much. The main reason that this device is catching hype is because of its 90 Hz display which makes the content in the display look really amazing.
OnePlus becomes the first smartphone to bring 90 Hz display in flagship phones. Razor phone 1, Razor phone 2 and Asus ROG phones had brought up with massive display with 120 Hz refresh rate previously but they were gaming phones. So it can be said OnePlus did it first by bringing display with refresh rate 90 Hz in a primary phone. However, we can set the display to 60 Hz for better battery performance. Thumps up for that. The display is manufactured by Samsung so in future we may see 90 Hz display in some of the Samsung Galaxy phones. Good news!
This phone is loaded with a massive 4000 mAh battery. But it barely survives a day with such great display. OnePlus did not offer wireless charging so some users might be affected but in my personal preference, I do not use wireless charging that often. It supports OnePlus’ fast charging technology called Warp Charge. The power adapter is included in the box which delivers 30W charge which is pretty good and pulls the battery level form 0 to 60% in just 30 minutes.
Being the flagship model of 2019 it comes with a powerful Snapdragon 855 processor so no doubt the phone will be able to handle all the heavy performances easily. And also it has UFS 3.0(Universal Flash Storage) storage in it which is 79% faster than the previous generation UFS 2.1. Samsung Galaxy Fold had promised to be the first to deliver with UFS 3.0 but OnePlus became the first in this race. So the combination of Snapdragon 855, UFS 3.0 and display with 90 Hz refresh rate makes the phone run smooth like never before.
It has its triple camera Setup in the back with 48-megapixel primary cameras, a wide angle lens and a 3x telephoto zoom lens. Although the trio is good the camera sensor is not as good as it was expected to be. It possesses IMX586 which is not that bad but not good for the flagship phone like OnePlus 7 pro. This is the same sensor that we can find in mid-range phones like Redmi Note 7 pro.
Its front camera is something new to many users as it is fitted with a motorized pop-up camera which is hard to be accepted by many users but OnePlus has claimed that they have tested their camera movement for 300,000 times so that it will survive for 5 years if we pop up the camera 150 times a day.
